About This List

The Seven Sister Colleges are a group of historically women’s liberal arts colleges in the northeastern United States, established to provide women with educational opportunities comparable to those available at Ivy League schools.

It's important to note that the label "Seven Sisters" has evolved with the times. While all seven schools were originally founded as women’s colleges, Vassar College and Radcliffe (now part of Harvard University) are coeducational today, and all of the remaining women’s colleges welcome students who identify as women, nonbinary, or transgender.
